Congress: We support the Iranian protesters in their struggle

Congress reassembled and issued a statement on Thursday, expressing solidarity for the widespread protests that had been sweeping the nation for days. The declaration came after the US announced additional sanctions against Iran, targeting 10 businesses and an oil tanker tied to Tehran.
Congress discussed a draught resolution that referred to Mahsa Amini’s murder as the most recent illustration of the Iranian regime’s cruel tactics and persecution.

According to the statement, he also emphasised that the United States firmly condemns the Iranian regime’s atrocities against its own people and joins thousands of Iranian protesters in their fight for freedom.
He thought that the Biden administration should demonstrate its support for the Iranian people via deeds rather than just words.

The US Secretary of State in response emphasised that his nation has taken action to prevent the circumvention of restrictions on the sale of Iranian oil.
These changes followed US authorities’ announcement that Tehran would be subject to a broader plan to tighten sanctions in the coming weeks. The new sanctions will target the organisations that enable the oil trade.

It is significant that this week, unrest broke out in front of the Iranian embassies in Britain, France, and Greece over Mahsa Amini’s death on September 16 at the hands of the morality police.
The killing of the young woman last week at the hands of the Iranian government sparked protests that expanded to at least 46 cities, towns, and villages throughout the nation.

Her passing caused outrage in the nation over a number of issues, such as limitations on individual liberties and stringent dress codes for women, as well as the living and economic crisis that Iranians were experiencing, not to mention the strict rules imposed by the regime and its political system in general. Women took a significant role in those demonstrations, and demonstrators waved and torched their headscarves. .
