Pope Francis emphasised that he had helped free hundreds of prisoners while outlining the extent of his engagement in the Moscow-Kiev prisoner exchange case.
In an interview he did in the middle of this month that was just released on Thursday in an Italian magazine, Pope Francis stated that “Ukrainian envoys” had visited the Vatican.
The Pope stated that they “asked me to do something so that the exchange may take place” in the interview that was featured in the Italian Jesuit publication “Civelta Cattolica.”
Without providing more information, he continued, “I immediately called the Russian embassy to see if something could be done and whether the prisoner exchange might be accelerated.” .
