Voting ends in local council and Senate elections in the Czech Republic

After voting in the local council elections and the elections to choose one-third of the members of the Czech Senate was completed, polling places today closed their doors to voters.
The vote concluded at precisely 2:00 p.m. local time, according to Radio (Prague International), and preliminary results are anticipated to surface early this evening, with the final outcome appearing tomorrow morning.

An estimated 30–40% of eligible voters participated in the two-day election. There are a total of 178 candidates vying for 27 Senate seats, while another 200,000 are vying for 60,000 seats on local councils.
Next weekend will see a second round of voting in the Senate elections for candidates who did not receive 50% of the vote.
