British official: Putin’s economic war is causing panic in London

Angela Knight, former CEO of the British Energy Industry Trade Association, has slammed Russian President Vladimir Putin for initiating an economic and psychological war by shutting down a key gas pipeline to Europe, causing fear in the United Kingdom.
According to the British news agency PA Media, Knights’ comments came after Russian energy corporation Gazprom declared that the Nord Stream 1 pipeline to Germany would stay halted indefinitely.

The connection has been blocked for three days for maintenance, but will be closed for an extended period when Gazprom discovered an oil leak in a turbine, raising worries of significant increases in energy costs across Europe.
On Saturday, Knight told Radio Times that the UK and Europe rely heavily on energy supplies from nations that aren’t always friendly.
He (Putin) excels at economic warfare. He’s quite good at psychological warfare, she added.

Putin’s economic campaign is spreading concern in London, according to a British diplomat.
