The German Chancellor, by holding a summit to address the deficiency of ammunition in the German Armed Forces, is seeking to give a boost to the slow purchase of materials needed by the German army.
Counselor Olaf Schults called on representatives of the arms industry and many ministries to talk about the framework conditions for ammunition production next Monday, according to the German newspaper “Welt” and the digital media company “Tipl Media” today, Friday.
The German army is suffering from a severe shortage of ammunition, and the government departments of the German News Agency confirmed the holding of the planned meeting.
It had recently announced that it was necessary to purchase munitions for the German army with the equivalent of 20 billion euros, and that there is also a need for ammunition to support Ukraine.
However, the industry has reduced its capabilities in the past few years due to austerity.
