The failure of an initiative for the European Union to resolve a dispute over the auto registration boards between Kosovo and Serbia

A European initiative has failed to resolve a major dispute between Serbia and Kosovo against the backdrop of auto registration plates, in a failure that Brussels held his responsibility to Pristina.
The European Union’s foreign policy official, Josep Borrell, hosted Serbian President Alexander Fotic and Prime Minister Kosovy Albin Corty in Brussels in an effort to overcome a dispute that would ignite a regional crisis.

After the meeting, Borrell said that Fuzic expressed his willingness to accept a settlement suggested by the European Union on auto registration boards “that would prevent the current crisis,” Corte rejected it.
Borrell added in a press conference that he will present to the European Union member states and allies a briefing “about the behavior of the two sides and the lack of respect for international legal obligations.

He continued, “I have to say this, especially for Kosovo, I know that this gives a very negative political indication. ”
Fuzic stressed after the meeting that Serbia took a “very constructive” position and agreed to a text that was modified “dozens of times. ”
He continued, “We only do the insistence on implementing the agreements that were previously signed. ”
But Courty told reporters that Kosovo was calling for talks to normalize relations.

He continued, “We cannot be irresponsible, not to address relevant issues, and to meet as leaders of countries to search only in car plates without researching the normalization of relationships. ”
“So we are in the current situation,” he added.
Borrell said that Kosovo had previously urged the suspension of the implementation of its car plate’s law in “North Kosovo”, in reference to a region with a majority of Serbian.

On the other hand, Baljarad asked not to issue new Serbian plates for cars from the cities of Kosovia, considering that this step would give way to the resumption of diplomatic efforts.
NATO Secretary -General announced that he had discussed Borrell in the talks..
