Iran’s players refrain from performing the national anthem in the World Cup

The 11 Iranian national team players refrained from performing the national anthem during its playing, prior to their confrontation with England in their first matches in the World Cup Qatar 2022 in football, in solidarity with the protests taking place in the country.

For nearly two months, Iran has been witnessing protests that followed the death of the young Muhsa Amini (22 years) three days after it was arrested by the Ethics Police for not being committed to the strict rules of the dress imposed by the Iranian authorities.
