Pakistan reopens the “Chamman” major border crossing with Afghanistan to the movement of trade and pedestrians

Today, Monday, Pakistan approved the reopening of the “Chaman” major border crossing with Afghanistan, in front of the trade and pedestrian movement, after it closed it about a week ago in the wake of an Afghan gunman fire on Pakistani soldiers; This resulted in the death of one of them and the injury of two others.

The Pakistani newspaper “Don” quoted the deputy delegate of the town of Shaman in the province of “Balochistan”, Abdel Hamid Zuhri, as saying: The decision to reopen the border came after talks with Afghan officials, indicating that they are looking for the attacker.
Zuhri added that Afghan officials expressed their grief and sorry for the killing and injury of members of the Pakistani border guards.

The shooting, which occurred on November 13th, closed the border – also known as the friendship gate – causing heavy losses to the merchants and caused the interruption of thousands of people on both sides.
It was not clear exactly what prompted the Afghan striker to open the fire on the Pakistani guards before he escaped from the scene..
