Writer Lin Zhao, 38, won this year’s Blancin Emaginist Literary Award for her work, “CHAO XI Tu, the tide image”, the annual award was created in 2018 to honor the novelists under the age of 45.
The winner received a cash prize of 300,000 yuan (42 thousand dollars), says Jack Liao, the deputy president of the award. With more appreciation, the winners list became an important guide for young readers who choose books.
According to Liao, the videos that were released around the award this year were broadcast more than 4 million times, indicating its increasing importance.
The winning novel was chosen due to its weird imagination and historical realism, as well as the use of southern China dialects that have only a marginal presence in the literary world.
The book depicts the journey of a giant frog in the nineteenth century from Guangdong via Macau to the heart of European empires, along the way, meets different characters, all of whom see from a different perspective, the novel reflects the breaks and restrictions in the turning points in history and recover them.
