A Turkish court orders the imprisonment of 17 suspects for their involvement in the Istanbul explosion

Today, Friday, a Turkish court ordered the imprisonment of 17 reserves on suspicion of being involved in an explosion this week in central Istanbul, killing six people.
The detainees are among a group of about 50 people arrested by Istanbul police earlier this week after the attack, including a woman who was suspected of planting the bomb, and the police identified her identity and said that she was a Syrian citizen called Ahlam Al -Bashir.

The official Turkish Anatolia News Agency stated that among the other detainees was the one who was connected to those who planted the bomb and others accused by the authorities of “intentional killing” and “undermining the unity and safety of the country. ” The agency stated that more than half of the detained suspects will be deported.
No group has claimed responsibility for the explosion, which hit more than 80 people on crowded Istiklal Street.

Soon the Turkish government accused Kurdish militants of carrying out the explosion. Police said that the aroma of the suspected bomb received training at the hands of Kurdish militants in Syria.
The Kurdistan Workers Party and the Syrian Democratic Forces, led by the Kurds and includes the Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units, denied their involvement in the explosion.

Anatolia quoted Ahlam al -Bashir as saying to the police and representatives of the public prosecutor that she had arrived in Turkey in July after receiving orders from the Syrian Kurdish People’s Protection Units.
Al -Bashir was also quoted as saying that she did not know what was inside the bag, which was asked to leave her at the scene of the explosion, and that she received it from another suspect who later fled from Turkey.

A spokesman for the Kurdish People’s Protection Units did not respond to a request from Reuters to comment.
The Kurdistan Workers Party has been leading a rebellion against the Turkish government since 1984. It is considered by Turkey, the European Union and the United States a terrorist organization..
