A crisis between Greece and the government of the Dubai … the Libyan Presidential Council interferes

The President of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohammed Al -Mennafi, announced that he is in contact with the State of Greece to find out the reasons for the abolition of its foreign minister, Nikos Dennedas, his visit to the capital, Tripoli, and in order to avoid any diplomatic incidents between the two countries.

The movement of the presidential council comes in interaction with the crisis that was renewed between the Greek minister and the government of national unity, after the first refused to get off his plane at the airport of the capital, Tripoli, where the Foreign Minister Najlaa Al -Mansoura was awaiting his reception and leaving towards the city of Benghazi.

Al -Munafi said, in a statement on Thursday evening, that he is communicating with the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs to clarify the reasons for the abolition of its foreign minister, which was scheduled, on Thursday, to the capital, Tripoli, in order to remove all the reasons for understanding, excluding any escalating steps in this file.

The exile affirmed the council’s keenness to continue the friendly relations with all the countries that have diplomatic relations with the State of Libya, and to strive to strengthen them on the basis of mutual respect and international rules regulating diplomatic action, to avoid everything that hinders and disperses those relations, and at the head of those Greek countries.

It was programmed for the Greek Foreign Minister to meet with the head of the exiled presidential council in the capital, Tripoli, but he refused to get off his plane at the airport, and left without any meetings in Tripoli, in an incident that caused discomfort.
Al -Dabba attacked the behavior of the Greek official, explaining during his meeting with the inscribed foreign minister that his government would not allow these actions towards the country and its sovereignty.

For its part, the inscription confirmed that what the Greek minister did “a non -diplomatic measure by refusing to go down for unknown and rejected reasons,” stressing “not to allow any country to deal with Libya without respecting its sovereignty and prestige”, and considered that this is one of the main tasks of its work as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The engrave indicated that the Libyan Ambassador to Greece was summoned to consult in what happened, and to summon the Greek Chargé d’Affairs in Libya to clarify the backgrounds of the event.

On the other hand, Athens accused the Al -Duba government of violating a prior agreement that the inscribed foreign minister was not met, explaining that the visit was coordinated with the Presidential Council, and that the meeting was programmed with the head of the exile council, and not with the government of national unity.

This incident would increase the state of tension that governs the relationship between Greece and the Dubai government, against the background of the latter signing an agreement with Turkey to explore for oil and gas in the Mediterranean, opposed by Athens.

Earlier, the Greek Foreign Minister considered that this agreement was “illegal and destabilizing”, and said in repeated statements that “the Dubai government is not entitled to signing international agreements because it does not represent the Libyan people. “.
