Yemen and the United Nations are discussing technical measures to address the problem of the carrier

The Yemeni Minister of Transport, Dr. Abdul Salam Hamid, discussed, during his meeting, today, Thursday, in Aden, with the United Nations Resident Representative in Yemen David Graceley, technical and logistical procedures to address the problem of the oil carrier Safer.
According to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba Net), the meeting touched on the United Nations action plan to mobilize financial resources to finance the discharge and transportation of crude oil in the tank.

Hamid stressed the need to move quickly to avoid any possible environmental consequences from the oil carrier, Safer, in the Ras Issa region, explaining the importance of coordination between the UN team and the national committee concerned with addressing the status of the tank to discuss the technical arrangements of the plan.

For his part, Grisley explained that the field work to empty the tank Safer will start in the first quarter of next year 2023, and it will take four months as it is prepared for the international plan, indicating that the cost of the plan project reaches more than 100 million dollars, expressing its understanding of the Yemeni government’s concern One of the risks of the tank, stressing that the United Nations will continue its efforts and efforts to address difficulties and alleviate the humanitarian conditions in Yemen.
