Costa Rica and Iraq friendly match

The Costa Rican Football Association announced the cancellation of the friendly match for the first team against Iraq, scheduled for Thursday in the Iraqi city of Basra, before the start of the World Cup “Qatar 2022”, which will be held during the period from November 20 to December 18.

Rudolfo Villalopos, President of the Costa Rican Federation, said in press statements that it was settled to cancel the match to refuse to seal the mission’s passports with the Iraqi seal, which will significantly affect other trips.
He added: “We have evidence that we have committed to all the special conditions for holding the match, but the Iraqi side did not fulfill its obligations.

The Costa Rican team returned to Kuwait, and is preparing to leave for Qatar tomorrow, Friday, to start the World Cup competitions, which will start next Sunday.
The Costa Rican national team is in the fifth group next to Spain, Germany and Japan..
