The United Nations announces the extension of the Black Sea pills agreement

On Thursday, the Secretary -General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, welcomed the agreement of all parties to extend the Black Sea Pills Initiative to facilitate Ukraine’s agricultural exports of its ports on the Black Sea.
“I welcome all parties to the continuation of the grain initiative in the Black Sea to facilitate the safe sailing to export grains, foodstuffs and fertilizers from Ukraine,” Guterres said in a statement today, Thursday.

He added that the United Nations “is completely committed to overcoming the remaining obstacles to the export of food and fertilizers from the Russian Federation”, which is part of the agreement that Moscow considers it very important.
He stressed that the two agreement signed in Istanbul three months ago is necessary to reduce food and fertilizer prices and avoid a global food crisis.
