Al-Madinah News:- The Iranian Foreign Ministry issued a statement regarding the release of the Iranian oil tanker arrested in Greece, and the two Greek ships arrested in Iran, stressing that the three ships took their destinations on the same day.

The Irane Foreign Ministry said in its statement: “After the agreement reached between the naval authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Greece, the ship that carries the shipment of Iranian oil left Greek waters a few hours ago to its predetermined destination and after six months of stopping.


The statement added: “The ship that was sailing under the flag of Iran in international waters towards its destination in May this year, was forced to resort to Greek ports due to bad weather conditions and technical defects, but unfortunately and in a procedure contrary to international standards and agreements, the ship was confiscated, and was seized. Her oil shipment and transport to a ship leased by an American company to transport it to America.


The Foreign Ministry continued: “This Greek measure, which was implemented by relying on the rule of a local court and the pretext of judicial cooperation with the United States, has faced from the beginning severe opposition by the Islamic Republic of Iran, and because this measure was a violation of international rights in freedom of navigation, the Islamic Republic of Iran has set measures Wide political and legal in its agenda to deal with it.

The statement continued: “Through a series of planned procedures, legal and judicial follow -up and negotiations, and despite the unlawful pressures by a third party to continue these maritime piracy, the local court decision in Greece to confiscate Iranian oil shipment in favor of the American side was overturned in the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court in Greece , And a decision was issued to return the shipment, as the shipment mentioned again to the Iranian oil tanker, and preparations were provided to leave that oil tanker and its Greek load regional waters.

He added, “In this context, in order to resolve the issue, there were intense negotiations and discussions between the two countries, Iran and Greece, and a memorandum of understanding was signed in this regard between the two parties, and according to this memorandum signed by the port and naval authorities in the two countries during the visit of the representative of the Greek government to Tehran, The two parties put the necessary cooperation to improve maritime security on their agenda.


The statement concluded that, in this regard, it was decided, in addition to the release of the ship that bears the flag of the Islamic Republic of Iran, to also release two Greek ships that were stopped due to “legal and judicial disputes” in the Gulf waters in recent months, and accordingly the three ships moved on the same day Toward its destinations.
