The nuclear survey reveals huge reserves of black sand in Egypt

The Nuclear Materials Authority of the Ministry of Electricity and Energy is preparing to announce new black sand reserves in southern Egypt during the year 2023.
Dr. Hamed Mira, the head of the commission, revealed that there are large reserves that will be announced during the coming period, explaining that a survey is underway for all places, coasts and beaches at the level of the Republic.

This comes after the opening of President Abdel Fattah El -Sisi, last month, the Black Sand Factory in the city of Burullus, which amounts to 35 acres, with investments of 24 million dollars.

The factory was inaugurated through the Egyptian Black Sand Company, which was established in 2016 with a capital of 4 billion pounds currently, and its ownership structure is distributed by 15 %for the Nuclear Materials Authority, 12 %for the National Investment Bank, Kafr El -Sheikh Governorate 10 %and 2 %of the Egyptian Mineral Resources Company , For 61 %for other parties.

Mira explained that the commission was assigned to carry out a magnetic, metaphysical and radiological air survey of Egypt to explore the mining, radiological and natural resources from the groundwater tanks and the potential areas of oil presence, pointing out that the authority seeks to finish preparing studies on exploitation of Lake Nasser and the possibility of benefiting from economic and strategic metals in deposits The lake silt during the coming period.

He said that Egypt possesses approximately 11 sites for the production of black sand, including the Burullus and Ghalioun, who started work in them, along with Rashid, North Sinai and other coasts of Egypt, and are preparing to offer a number of other places to investors.
It is noteworthy that North Sinai Governorate reaches the total crude reserves of black sand in it to 930 million tons, and until now the authority has not finished assessing crude reserves in that rich area.

Mira explained that the idea of establishing the Black Sand Company is based on extracting minerals from the surface of the earth or from the water and separating it and marketing its products locally and globally for the minerals extracted from them, and converting them into products ready for various industrial operations instead of marketing them as raw materials.

The head of the Nuclear Materials Authority has made it clear – in recent statements – that previous studies have shown that the total reserves of Egypt of black sand reaches 5 billion tons on the Mediterranean and Red Bahrain coasts, and it is expected to be increased.
He also stressed that Egypt’s returns to the added value of the Black Sand project in Burullus reaches 6 billion dollars.

He continued that these sand is included in 41 industries, most notably aircraft and cars structures, oil pipelines, and nuclear radiation materials, because they contain many heavy metals through a group of layers inside the soil.
