Barham Salih, calling for an urgent national meeting: We do not accept that Iraq be a battlefield for others

The president of Iraq, Barham Salih, stated that the current state of affairs is unacceptable and should not continue, noting that holding early elections would be a means to end the suffocating crisis and urging immediate national discourse.
In a speech, the president of Iraq further stated that maintaining the status quo would only encourage corruption and undermine the nation’s independence.

The Iraqi president continued by stating that political quotas are a hindrance to effective governance and an issue, and that disagreements between the Kurdistan region of Iraq and the Baghdad-based central government must be settled.
According to the president of Iraq, it is unacceptable for Iraq to serve as a theatre of hostilities for other parties, and he suggested that the coordination framework and the Sadrist movement explore the prospect of holding early elections.
