The MORO rebel Front has re -committed to the 2014 peace agreement with the Philippine government, including continuing its support for the military campaign against terrorism in the south of the country.
Senior civilian and military officials met with the rebel group, Basilan County, where the last clash witnessed the killing of three soldiers from the army and four members of the Moro Front, with dozens of wounded from both sides.
The meeting – chaired by Minister Carlito Galvez, the Presidential Adviser for Peace, Reconciliation and Unity – was held at the headquarters of the Infantry Brigade 101, in Bardai Tabiawan, Edabella, Basilan, according to a statement issued by Westmincom on Tuesday.
The meeting discussed the treatment of the prevailing issues between the Moro front and the Philippine army, in order to restore the sanctity of the peace process.
In this context, Galfins emphasized the core of the 2014 ceasefire agreement signed by the Moro Liberation Front and the Philippine government.
In the last part of the meeting, the two parties agreed to exhaust all means to prevent an unfortunate terrorist accident again. “I urge the two parties to engage more and re -establish their good relationship as partners in maintaining peace in the province of Basilan,” said Galvies.
Front officials expressed their support for the army’s campaign to eliminate the risks of society, especially the remnants of the Abu Sav group and other lawy elements.
During the meeting, the army leaders and other government officials met with Bush Malang, head of the Moro Front, Dan Asnawie, a member of the Betmetoro Transitional Authority (BTA) and al -Qaeda commander 114 for the Moro Liberation Front in Basilan, and the commander of the Huram Malangka Front.
In this regard, the JPST team (JPST) is scheduled to monitor security concerns.
For his part, General Domingo Gobway, commander of the Joint Task Force in Basilan, said that the Moro Liberation Front is one of the active supporters of the army in its campaign against terrorism.
