Details of the “Al -Qusayr” meeting with the Senegalese and Somali Minister of Agriculture during the climate summit

Mr. Al -Qusayr, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, met the Senegalese and Somali Minister of Agriculture in order to discuss the prospects for joint cooperation between Egypt and these two countries and to support the Food and Agriculture Initiative for the Fast Sustainable Transformation launched by the Ministry at the Climate Summit.

The Minister of Agriculture started his meeting with his Senegalese counterpart, Ali Najwai Nadia, where he welcomed him and stressed that Egypt puts its eyes in comprehensive development in Africa to improve and develop ways to live for the peoples of the continent, stressing that there are directives from the political leadership to provide all aspects of support to the African brothers.

And he referred to the seminar exhibition held by the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture in the Green Zone at the Climate Conference and called on its Senegalese counterpart to visit this exhibition, stressing to move forward in taking the procedures for providing approved wheat seeds.

For his part, the Senegalese minister stressed that he is looking forward to cooperating with Egypt in the field of producing strategic crops due to the circumstances that different countries of the world are going through and the urgent need to achieve food security for their people, especially the developing world countries.

Among the crops that the Senegalese side is interested in is wheat due to the increasing consumption of bread, pointing out that the Senegalese side implemented experiences on some Egyptian wheat seeds. These experiences have succeeded greatly and Senegal has a great desire to cooperate with the Egyptian side in this regard.

In a related context, the Minister of Agriculture met with his Somali counterpart, Hassan Hussein Mahmoud, where the two sides discussed cooperation in the field of livestock and fish, training and capacity building..
