US President Joe Biden called on his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping to play the role of mediation in the conflict with North Korea, after their meeting on the Indonesian island of Bali.
“I explained to President Xi Jinping that I think they are committing to an attempt to clarify North Korea that they should not engage in long -range nuclear tests,” Biden said.
The US President added that if North Korea did, the Americans will have to take defensive measures for themselves and their allies.
The situation is tense due to the frequent North Korean missile tests and the threat that is waving the horizon with a potential nuclear weapons experience.
For its part, North Korea says that its missile experiences are in response to military maneuvers between the United States and South Korea, which Pyongyang considers exercises to invade its lands or topple its regime..
