Iraqi President Barham Salih got a phone call from his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, on Monday.
During the phone discussion, Sisi stated that the Egyptian government is closely monitoring events in Iraq due to the two nations’ fraternal connection.
Al-Sisi went on to say, “I am following the present situation in Iraq with attention, and I am grieved by the consequence of the current developments in this brotherly country, which is tied to Egypt by strong historical connections of brotherhood and Arabism.”
As I affirm Egypt’s full support for Iraq’s security and stability, as well as the safety of its brotherly people, I call on all Iraqi parties to prioritise their country’s supreme interest in order to overcome the political crisis through dialogue and achieve stability, security, and prosperity for Iraqis.
According to an Egyptian Presidency spokesman, during the call, the president emphasised Egypt’s full support for Iraq under the current circumstances, emphasising the need to stay on the path of dialogue and understanding and to prioritise Iraq’s national interests above all else in order to preserve the country’s security, stability, and sovereignty.
He emphasised Egypt’s preparedness to contribute to any united effort to halt any escalation and conflicts, with its Arab brethren.
Barham Salih, for his part, thanked and appreciated Sisi for his interest in and follow-up on the situation in the nation, referring to ongoing efforts to encourage the avenues of dialogue and convergence.
Saleh emphasised the depth of the relationship that binds the two nations and peoples, as well as the significance of deepening it in numerous domains to accomplish mutual goals.
Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s support for Iraq’s security and stability during a phone chat with Barham Salih.
