Turkish gas center .. Many challenges and gains for Ankara, Moscow and Europe

4 years in front of Russia to determine its position on participating in the international gas center that is being established in Turkey, which may help Moscow to maintain part of the market for the gas market for Europe, according to a report published by the Russian newspaper “Nizavisima Gazetta”, today, Monday.

The newspaper quoted experts as saying that the 4 -year period is sufficient for LNG companies (LNG), in order to complete the new investment cycle, with the aim of replacing the entire Russian gas, and despite that, it may be possible to sell Russian gas at a reduced price, because it will take off its Russian dress.

And wearing a Turkish dress, through the Turkish gas center, when mixed with fuel coming from other countries such as Azerbaijan or Iran, and Turkish officials are currently holding talks with their Russian counterparts.

The newspaper quoted the former trade representative of Turkey to Russia, and the political and economic expert, Idin Caeser, as saying, “In order to determine the price in Turkey, the Turkish gas center must have other gas supplies, in addition to Russia, and Turkey needs to mobilize other gas resources, especially The “Tanab” line (gas transfer line from Azerbaijan to Europe via Anatolia).

He continued, “The prior condition is Russia’s recognition of Turkey’s right to re -export Russian natural gas that is transported to it, and therefore if European countries cannot buy gas from Russia, because they cannot pay the ruble, you will be able to buy it through the Turkish mediator because it will deal with Turkey ».

For his part, the great expert in the Russian National Energy Security Fund, Stanislav Metrakhovic, said, “The main issue of the establishment of a gas center in Turkey is not a technical issue. There is Russian, Azerbaijani and Iranian gas, and fuel may also be delivered from northern Iraq, and from Egypt, Israel, Cyprus and some Central Asian countries ».

“The main issue is the extent of Europe’s willingness to buy this mix of gas, which will carry the Turkish garment through the Turkish gas center, while everyone realizes that there is a large Russian component of it.

Metrachovic considered that the approval of the establishment of a center in Turkey means that Russia does not give up at least parties of the European market, adding that perhaps if a settlement of the situation occurs in Ukraine, then this plan can succeed, but only with the approval of customers from European countries..
