Because of the suppression of the protests, the European Union imposes sanctions on Iranian officials and entities

On Monday, the European Union imposed sanctions on 29 additional Iranian officials and three institutions, against the background of the suppression of the protests ignited by the death of the young woman, Muhsa Amini.
Among those covered by banning visas and freezing assets, Interior Minister Ahmed Wahidi, and Press TV TV, who is accused of broadcasting “forced confessions of detainees,” according to a statement by the European Union.

The European Union’s foreign affairs representative, Josep Borrell, said that the Union condemns what he called “violent, unacceptable repression” of the demonstrators.
“We stand by the Iranian people and support their right to peaceful protest and express their demands and opinions freely. Today we impose additional sanctions on those responsible for the suppression of Iranian demonstrators.

Later on, Britain announced new sanctions on Iranian officials involved in the suppression of the protesters, including a government minister, because of what it described as a “violent repression of the protests” in the country.
The European Union imposed in mid -October sanctions against the Iranian “Ethics Police” and 11 senior officials, including the Minister of Communications.

Since September 16, Tehran has been witnessing protests after the death of Amini, 22, days after it was arrested by the Ethics Police.
Dozens, including members of the security forces, were spent on the sidelines of the protests interspersed with the raising of anti -authorities, and officials considered a large part, including “riots”. The judiciary also made different charges to more than two thousand detainees..
