Al-Madinah News:- The diplomatic advisor to the President of the UAE, Anwar Gargash, said on Monday that “there is no interest” for his country in “choosing between the great powers”, despite its “strategic security relationship” with the United States.
Gargash told experts and analysts in the opening session of the annual conference of the Abu Dhabi strategic debates, which is organized by the Emirates Policy Center: “There is no interest for the United Arab Emirates in choosing between the great powers. ”
He added: “We will not sacrifice under any circumstances with our sovereignty of anyone,” according to Agence France -Presse.
“We welcome the constructive participation of other world forces in enhancing security and stability in the region,” said Gargash, who previously served as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
He continued: “The UAE does not depend on a country or two only for our economic prosperity and security. Trade relations are increasing to the east, while our basic security and investment relations are directed to the West. This situation may develop over time.
”
Gargash insisted that “Abu Dhabi’s basic security relationship remains unambiguously with the United States,” adding: “This partnership between two sovereign states (. . . ) We can continue to estimate it significantly, yet it is necessary to find a way to ensure that we can Dependence on this relationship for future decades (. . ) through clear obligations.
