The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity plans to raise its production capacity to 24,000 megawatts next summer.
Iraqi Electricity Minister Ziad Fadel said, in a statement to Al -Iraqiya TV today, Monday, that Iraq needs to implement correct plans to address the lack of electric energy production in Iraq and raise the hours of supply, and it is possible to achieve acceptable success in this file.
He stated that «the levels of current and imported electrical energy are about 20 thousand megawatts and we are working to raise the production capacity to 24 thousand megawatts next summer and we aspire to achieve 30 megawatts in the future to address this crisis according to true correct plans.
He explained that Iraq has concluded decades with Iran, Jordan, the Gulf Cooperation Council, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the Kurdistan region to obtain production levels through joint linking, as well as the ministry is continuing to implement its plans to raise the levels of energy production.
Fadel said: “We have to choose discreet international companies in the field of electrical energy production and distribution, and we are currently successful experiences with the American General Electric and Siemens and Siemens, as they possess solid equipment. “.
