Cristiano Ronaldo’s ambition to leave Manchester United has not wavered, and the Portuguese player is looking to depart before the end of the current summer transfer window, according to the Mirror newspaper.
The Portuguese star, who had intended to leave Old Trafford, was still resolved to depart when a condition in his contract forced him to reduce his income.
Due to a stipulation in their contracts, every United player had to take a 25% wage drop if they did not play in the Champions League.
Ronaldo’s major reason for leaving the old English club was to avoid competing in the Champions League.
According to the Mirror, Atltico Madrid is one of the teams that might provide Ronaldo a way out of the club he represented at the start of his career and won numerous trophies with.
With the new Dutch coach, Eren Ten Hag, the 37-year-old Portuguese great stayed on the bench.
Ronaldo started on the bench in Manchester United’s 1-0 win over Southampton on Saturday before going on as a substitute in the final twenty minutes without making an impact. He also did not play in the previous game’s triumph against Liverpool.
Despite missing out on Cristiano Ronaldo’s services as a starting in two consecutive English Premier League matches, coach Ten Hag has maintained that he wants him to continue at Old Trafford.
United linked numerous strikers to compensate for his departure, including the Brazilian Anthony from Ajax Amsterdam, who had played under Ten Hag’s supervision in the Dutch club.
