Czech Industry Minister Josef Sekila said on Monday that European Union energy ministers would meet in an emergency meeting on September 9 to discuss how to respond to substantial hikes in gas and electricity prices.
The Czech Republic presently holds the rotating presidency of the European Union and is in charge of scheduling ministerial meetings of the 27-nation union.
Earlier on Monday, Sekela stated that an emergency meeting will be held to consider options such as restricting the price of gas used to generate energy, as well as market interventions.
On September 9, EU energy ministers will meet in an emergency meeting.
