The number of asylum applications in Austria exceeded 100,000 requests this year, at the highest level of asylum requests and beyond the peak of requests in 2015, which amounted to 89 thousand asylum applications.
Gottfred Valdhausel, the asylum affairs advisor in the lower Austria state, said in today’s statements that the country raits the alarm due to this terrifying level of the influx of refugees, which is more than it was in the 2015 refugee crisis.
The advisor pointed out that the average asylum applications between 2004 and 2014 did not exceed 172 thousand requests, noting that there are only one woman out of every 20 refugees.
Valdhausel pointed out that more than 4 thousand requests are being submitted every week, while the Ministry of Interior expects requests to rise to about 120 thousand requests by the end of this year..
