Netanyahu is charged today with the formation of the Israeli government

Benjamin Netanyahu, the “Likud” party’s leader, is anticipated to be given the official task of forming the Israeli government today, Sunday.
In light of Netanyahu’s ongoing talks with the parties, it is unlikely that the new government, led by him, will take the oath in front of the Knesset this week. Netanyahu will have one month to put together a ruling coalition with a 120-seat majority.

The sources noted that the “Likud”—which will keep the defence ministry—is demanding to hold the head of the “Religious Zionism” party in the Salazel Smotrich in exchange for getting the finance ministry rather than Arieh Deri, the head of the “Shas” party, who will give him Benjamin Netanyahu.

In order to give the leader who has been facing corruption charges for a long time the chance to end years of political unrest in Israel with his right-wing allies, the Israeli President asked former Prime Minister Netanyahu to form a new government on Friday.
Following consultation with the leaders of each party represented in the Israeli parliament through the recent national elections, President Isaac Herzog made his decision, which was made public by his office.

Before being deposed by a large coalition, Netanyahu ruled Israel for 12 straight years, but he was weak in 2021. He came back to the polls last week, the fifth election in the nation in four years, and appeared to secure Israel’s first stable majority-led government since 2019.

Today, Netanyahu is tasked with forming the Israeli government.
