In a major event hosted by the Institute of Oriental Studies in its historic building at the old university, Ambassador Dr. Sameh Abu Al-Enein, Consul General of Egypt in Chicago and the states of the American West, opened the 100-year anniversary exhibition on the discovery of the Cemetery of the young Pharaonic King Tutankhamun.

Ambassador Abu Al -Enein said that the members of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Oriental Studies, a number of members of the University’s Ema Poor and a group of Egyptian sciences from American universities participated in the ceremony.
He emphasised that the event was planned in conjunction with the American Research Center in Egypt and included a number of board members who travelled to Chicago especially for the celebration.

According to him, Dr. was the director of the Institute of Oriental Studies.

Tio Vanden Het thanked the Egyptian Ambassador in his speech for supporting the institute’s cultural activities centred on Egypt and its Pharaonic history, noting that he had travelled to Egypt just a few days earlier to celebrate the renovation and reopening of “Chicago House” in Luxor in collaboration with the Egyptian government and the ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, as well as to take part in the celebration of the “Sawiris” programme for scientific and academic advancement.

Members of the scientific, academic, foreign, and Arab consulate from the states of Illinois, Michigan, and Indiana attended Dr. Emily Tiller’s lecture on King Tutankhamun’s history and the greatness of ancient Egyptian civilization in the university’s main hall, which was completely packed for the occasion of the celebration. She was invited to give the lecture by the Egyptian ambassador.

The celebration held today at the University of Chicago and the growing Egyptian American cooperation in all economic, cultural, and social fields were both praised by the attendees as being enormous successes for Egypt in organising and hosting the summit of the climate conference in Sharm El-Sheikh.

The Egyptian Consul takes part in the Chicago University celebration of the discovery of Tutankhamun, which has been going on for 100 years.
