Pakistani President: Agreement on the date of general elections may reduce political tension

Today, Saturday, Pakistani President Aref Alawi called for the necessity of sitting all concerned parties and stakeholders together in order to hold discussions aimed at reaching an agreement on the date of the upcoming general elections, which must be held in a free, fair and transparent way.
According to the Pakistani Associated news agency, Alwi expressed his hope that this would help lessen the atmosphere’s tension and the country’s political gridlock.

The Pakistani President also said that the concerned parties and stakeholders should also consider discussing the use of technology in order to achieve efficiency, transparency and integrity in the elections.
Alwi emphasised that he would keep working to lessen the nation’s political polarization.
