He continued, “What happened this year may adversely affect cotton cultivation in 2023, as the farmer has suffered a great loss and you may push him to forego cotton cultivation at a time when we seek to restore the throne of ready-made clothing and the spinning and weaving industry, there is the rent of the acre that It exceeds 10,000 pounds per acre annually, 40% of which pay the cotton cultivation alone, as well as ploughing the land with plow.”

A member of the Parliament’s Agriculture Committee emphasised that it is beneficial to the state to find its goods made with Egyptian hands in international markets, noting that Egyptian cotton has a reputation for being of high quality and that we do not like what we have seen in the past from selling it as a raw material in the European markets, then returning to us in the form of pricey clothing.

The Egyptian exports of cotton increased, the level of the farmer’s income increased, and the employment increased in the local factories, and the internal and external trade expanded, and then the trade balance of our country.
