Urgent .. Minister of Finance: The state puts health care for citizens at the top of its priorities

Dr.

the high death rate for hot regions like North Africa and the Middle East, which has a negative impact on the working system in many sectors, including: agriculture, construction, and the decline in economic performance indicators, Mohamed Moait, minister of finance, emphasised that the Egyptian government places health care for citizens at the top of its priorities. This is especially true in light of climate changes that result in increased rates of diseases and epidemics, and then the high death rate for hot areas like North Africa and the Middle East.

The minister’s assistant for economic justice, Mai Farid, added to a speech he gave on his behalf at a high-level meeting of the “ATACH” work alliance on health and climate in Dr.

Tidros Adhanum, Director General of the World Health Organization, stated during “Finance Day,” which was organised by the Ministry of Finance as part of the activities of The Climate Summit in Sharm El-Sheikh, that international mobilisation is required to create a healthy climate and reduce carbon emissions, especially in developing, medium-income, and poor countries. He added that we need to increase domestic and foreign investments in the health sector in African countries and form a specialised group to address these issues.

The minister made the case that practises associated with burning fossil fuels have a negative impact on the climate, contribute to the spread of deadly diseases like cancer and heart disease, and raise the cost of treatment, placing severe strain on both individual income and government budgets. He emphasised the need to maximise public investments in order to generate surpluses. With the budgets of countries, they contribute to enhancing spending on the health sector, taking into account the use of solar energy in health care institutions, which helps in achieving huge savings in energy bills in developed or more vulnerable countries.

More climate change-resistant health systems: According to the minister, developing nations are the most susceptible to risks and health damages brought on by climate change. As a result, we look forward to the international community’s solidarity in facilitating their access to soft, multilateral, and multilateral financing to achieve more climate change-resistant health systems, which help turn international commitments into concrete executive initiatives to stimulate investment. Green, environmentally friendly and healthy in a way that helps in establishing the foundations of a safe and sustainable ecosystem that is more able to avoid climatic, health and economic crises in the future.
