A police source confirmed that four people were hurt in a shooting on Friday in Montreal close to a university and that they were taken to a hospital.
In another incident, the police arrested an armed with an educational institution in the Montreal region, and a number of students were forced to fortify at the request of the police during its intervention.
According to police spokeswoman Jenviev Magor of Agence France-Presse, gunfire was heard in a garden next to the University of Montreal in the Montreal suburb of Laval at 17:30 (22:30 GMT).
Four people were shot and killed at the college before being taken to the hospital with minor wounds.
The university, which includes about 10,000 students and teachers, remained closed in the evening, while the police fired a pursuit in search of the shooter.
