Alec Baldwin sues Rust crew members for giving him loaded gun

Alec Baldwin has sued several people connected to the making of the movie Rust, accusing them of negligence after they allegedly gave him a loaded gun that killed the movie’s cinematographer.
The actor, who also served as the movie’s producer, is suing the cast and crew, including Rust’s armorer.

Seth Kenny, who is allegedly the set’s source for firearms and ammunition, and first assistant director Dave Halls, who gave Baldwin the gun and declared it safe, are both named in Baldwin’s lawsuit.
In the complaint, Baldwin’s attorney Luke Nikas claimed that the crew members had failed to uphold safety standards on the set.
“This tragedy happened because live bullets were delivered to the set and loaded into the gun,” the lawsuit said.

The action accuses Zachery of failing to ensure the safety of set props, Halls of failing to check the gun before declaring it safe, and the film’s armourer of failing to check the gun’s bullets properly.
It happens after Mamie Mitchell, the film’s script supervisor, sued Baldwin. She alleged Baldwin and others involved with the film’s production caused her severe emotional distress after the shooting.

According to Mitchell, a misstep in safety procedures on the site made an incident unavoidable.
Baldwin claimed that although serving as the movie’s producer, he was not in charge of the hiring or scheduling of crew members.
On October 21, 2021, while Baldwin was rehearsing for a scene on the Rust set in New Mexico, his gun accidentally fired, striking both the director and cinematographer of the movie, Halyna Hutchins.
Souza was hurt, and Hutchins passed away.

Baldwin has insisted that Hutchins’ passing was not his fault.
The lawsuit claimed that far more people than just Baldwin had been harmed by the negligence of the cross-defendants.
Joel Souza, a producer, was shot in the shoulder and is now in pain both physically and mentally.

“Though by no means comparable, Baldwin must live with the immense grief and the resulting emotional, physical, and financial toll caused by the fact that Cross-Defendants’ negligent conduct, assurances, and supervision put a loaded weapon in his hand and led him, Hutchins, and everyone else on set to believe that his directed use of the weapon was safe. ”
The decision to file criminal charges will be made after further investigation of the case by the local prosecutors.
