Bill 21 Appeal: English School Board Says Law is ‘Affront’ to Values of Quebec Anglos

The province’s secularism law, according to a lawyer for Quebec’s largest English-language school board, is an insult to the Anglophone Community’s honour and values.
Religious diversity is a way of life in Quebec’s English schools, according to Perri Ravon, an attorney for the English Montreal School Board, who spoke at a court of appeals hearing on Wednesday.

RAVON TOLED THE COURT THAT IT DOESN’T MATTER WHOTHER BILL 21 – WHICH PROHIBITS SUB PUBLIC WORLKERS FROM WEARING Religious Symbols on The Job – Is Supported by A Majority of Quebecers.
Whatrs, She Says, is that the law clashes with the minority’s culture.

The Quebec government and groups opposed to the law are contesting an April 2021 court ruling that upheld most of Bill 21 but struck down provisions relating to English school boards because the Constitution protects the rights of official language minorities.

The Quebec Government’s representative, Manuel Klein, told the appeals court on Tuesday that Bill 21 ought to be applied equally to all students in the province and that it has no effect on the Anglophone culture of Quebec.
