Sonak: Britain will remain the “cornerstone” of NATO

Prior to a visit to his Secretary-General, Jens Stoltenberg, British Prime Minister Rishi Sonak stated on Tuesday that the United Kingdom will continue to play a significant role in NATO (NATO) for future generations.
The Secretary -General of NATO will be the first international official to meet Sonak in Dawnj Street since he took over the British government last month.

The talks, which are scheduled for Wednesday, will focus on the UK’s support for Ukraine following the beginning of Russia’s attack on its territory in February as well as the coalition’s future, according to a statement to the prime minister.
Sonak was quoted as saying in the statement: “With the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, we should not assume that Muslims are responsible for maintaining peace in our nation.
“The UK will be the cornerstone of NATO for coming generations,” Sonak emphasized.

However, Sonak continued, “To meet the challenges of the future, we must forge an alliance in order to counter the threat that our adversaries pose and anticipate.
NATO revealed that Stoltenberg will also meet James Cleverly, the foreign secretary of the United Kingdom.
Stoltenberg will meet with a military facility where Ukrainian soldiers train the British army after missing one previously.

19,000 Ukrainian recruits have received training in basic combat techniques from Britain, including shooting, using weapons, engaging in street combat, digging trenches, and administering first aid.
Sonak reported on Tuesday that the UK will supply more than 25,000 sets of cold-weather clothing, 12,000 sleeping bags, and 150 fireplaces to Ukrainian soldiers as additional equipment to help them survive the harsh winter.

One of the first people to get in touch with Sonak after he accepted the job was Ukrainian President Foludmir Zellinski, who had a close relationship with former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Sonak assured him of Britain’s “firm” support for Ukraine and its solidarity with it..
