African Union Commissioner: The percentage of carbon emissions in the continent is low

Amani Abu Zaid, the African Union’s commissioner for infrastructure, informatics, and energy, confirmed that Africa has a low carbon emission rate while pointing out that the harm caused by climate change outweighs the effects of hunger and poverty globally and that desertification and climate change may spark armed conflict.

In an interview with the “DMC Evening” program, which was aired on the “DMC” channel and hosted by the media Rami Radwan, Abu Zaid claimed that climate change is to blame for wars and conflicts in the Sahel region of Africa. He also noted that the costs of climate change in Africa are fatal, and that the continent urgently needs development given that it is not the result of climate change.

She emphasised that Africa is a responsible continent that works to mitigate the effects of climate change, and that the African Union did not withdraw from any climate-related agreements after the Paris 2015 agreement was adopted.

The percentage of carbon emissions on the continent is low, according to the African Union Commissioner.
