The Tunisian judiciary raises the travel ban on the parents of the child of illegal immigration

The Monastir Court of Appeal’s accusation division decided to lift the travel ban on the parents of the 4-year-old girl who had travelled alone to the Italian maritime border and was referred to in the media as an “illegal immigration child” today, on Tuesday.

The Court of Appeal decided to lift the travel ban on the child’s parents, according to the assistant public prosecutor and official spokesman for the Monastir and Mahdia Courts, Farid bin Juha. He made this announcement in a special statement to the Tunisian News Agency.

The investigating judge of the third office of the Court of First Instance in Monastir had previously decided and at the request of the Public Prosecution to ban the child’s parents’ travel in order to preserve the progress of investigations into the two crimes of neglecting minor affairs and crossing the maritime borders surreptitiously.
Farid bin Juha, on the other hand, claimed that the Italian judiciary had decided today to delay the decision on the child’s position until the following week.

After sending their 4-year-old daughter on a perilous journey to Italy on an illegal immigration boat, where she eventually arrived at Lampedusa alone, the Tunisian authorities detained the couple to investigate them.

The parents of an immigrant child are subject to a stricter travel ban in Tunisia.
