Turkish Energy Minister: We started buying gas from Russia in rubles

In an interview with the TRT news channel of the Turkish Radio and Television Corporation, Dunmiz said that the share payments in the local currency in exchange for energy from Russia will increase in the coming months.
Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, declared in September that Turkey will pay around 25% of Russian gas supplies in the currency.

The imports of Russian energy are an important source of energy in Turkey, as the percentage of Russian gas reached 45 percent of Turkey’s gas imports, which gave Moscow a major surplus in the trade exchange between the two countries.
The use of local currency in trade between Turkey and Russia was agreed upon earlier in August by Putin and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
