The death of a Jordanian player stopped his heart twice during a match

After having a severe heart attack last evening during his team’s Jordan Handball Cup match against Al-Salt, Adel Bakr Atari of the Kafranja handball club spent today, Tuesday.
The player was taken to the hospital after collapsing during yesterday’s game in Princess Sumaya Hall in Al-Hussein Youth City, and he passed away today.
The Handball Association had canceled the matches yesterday because of the incident.

According to the accident report, Adel Bakr Atari, a member of the Jordanian national handball team and the Kafranja Club, suffered an acute heart attack that caused his heart to stop while playing with his team yesterday in the Jordan Cup championship in front of Al-Salt Club in the Princess Sumaya Hall in Al-Hussein Youth City.

Imad Freihat, the manager of the Kafraja club, revealed the 36-year-ill old’s condition after he unexpectedly collapsed during the game that pitted his team against Al-Salt in the Jordan Cup handball championship competitions.
The club president stated that the player collapsed unexpectedly during the second half of the game, stopping his heart, requiring the assistance of paramedics from both teams as well as paramedics in the spectators.

He said that although the ambulance workers’ efforts had been successful in hastening his recovery, when he got to the hospital, his heart stopped again, showing that he already had a catheter.
And the medical team is currently awaiting the results of the player’s fall on the field, which halted his brain from continuing to function, since it takes roughly 40 hours to get the correct diagnosis of his health condition.

He suffered a heart attack in the middle of the second half, and the medical equipment on hand with the two teams and the civil defence guys sprung into action to administer all necessary help before he was taken to a hospital close to Hussein for Youth by ambulance civil defence.

The Olympic Committee and the Minister of Youth and Sports personally visited the hospital, and the President and other federation members spent last night visiting the player’s family, the Kafranja club family, and other clubs in the hospital to monitor the player’s condition. The Jordan Handball Federation handled all the formalities associated with the player’s admission to the hospital.
