Climate change .. A new book by Nisreen Al -Sabahi on internal conflicts in Africa

Nisreen Al-book Sabahi’s “Climate Change and its Impact on Conflicts in East Africa” was just released by the Al-Arabi Publishing House.

According to the book, the majority of national, regional, and international policies that have been proposed to stop the spread of internal conflicts in East Africa show a strong interest in addressing the political causes of conflicts that are connected to the national or regional context of Africa. As a result, the political reasons for conflicts received more attention than any other type of reasons, particularly those connected to economic and social aspects.

Similarly, the factors that lead to violence in Africa gained the most attention, overshadowing many factors that lead to conflict internationally, such as competition between the major powers over strategic interests in East Africa.

Despite this clear focus on dealing with this type of internal conflict causes in East Africa and not the other, the return from these policies came as limited as it has been confirmed in the spread of many internal conflicts in the region’s countries and its high severity over time.
This contradiction highlights the part that external, non-political influences have had in igniting and sustaining internal wars in East Africa.

Climate change comes at the forefront of the causes of internal conflicts that are characterized by a global and non -political nature in the first place, but it has proven great ability to detonate, perpetuate internal conflicts and complicate their settlement in East Africa. The primary focus of the book is on this issue: How much of an impact does climate change have on internal conflicts in East African nations?
