Petroleum Petroleum Strategy in achieving sustainability and reducing emissions

The oil and gas industry is implementing projects that aim to improve and preserve the environment, work to achieve sustainability, reduce emissions and costs, and improve energy efficiency as part of the larger effort to improve the performance of petroleum activities in order to achieve the goals of the Ministry of Petroleum and the foregoing mineral wealth since its establishment in 2016. This effort is timed to coincide with Egypt’s hosting of the Climate Summit Conference (COP27).

Eng. received a report.

Tariq Al-Mulla, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, stated that these projects include thirteen initiatives involving the recovery of flame gas (Zero Flare) in firms (Qarun, Ajiba, Petrolela, Assiut to refine the oil, Zetko, Petrosan, Burj Al Arab, Khaleda, Petroshheh, and Petrobl). With a total of 40 million cubic feet of gas per day, it is retrieved and the

According to the report, 88 low-cost projects have been implemented in 31 companies to increase energy efficiency. These projects have reduced electricity use, energy use, improved operating efficiency, and controlled operating conditions with compressors, ovens, boilers, and steam systems. Additionally, 21 companies have installed and are using solar energy cells with a 1.350 kW capacity in their buildings and fields.

It should be noted that the most needy villages were implemented in January 2021 as part of the presidential initiative (a decent life), and that natural gas networks were installed in these villages following the completion of the sewage networks in the villages that the gas did not enter, and from the target population. Following the implementation of sewage connections in it, 796 villages were added to the gas distribution plan, giving it a total of around 1450 communities. In the first stage, natural gas was linked to 118 villages, and ground networks are being built to connect the gas to 515 additional villages. The quantity of homes

5 million homes have been built so far.

Al-Mulla noted that the state’s initiatives and presidential directives encouraging people to convert their cars to run on natural gas as a fuel led to an increase in demand for doing so, which led to the transfer of 472 thousand cars to run on naturally compressed gas since the activity began up until this point and to double the number of catering stations using natural gas as fuel in an 18-month period.
