UN: 340,000 people affected by floods in 11 provinces of Chad

According to UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric, the devastating floods affected 340,000 people in 11 of Chad’s 23 regions.
The floods have killed 22 people, wrecked buildings, infrastructure, agricultural land, and animals, caused a jump in malaria infection rates, and heightened fears of a cholera breakout as of August 16.

We are assisting the government-led response in providing life-saving assistance, including as food, health care, shelter, and other essential supplies to more people, the UN official added.
According to Dujarric, pre-flood humanitarian needs were only 34% funded as of mid-August, with $171 million gathered out of the $510 million needed.

Floods have harmed 340,000 people in 11 Chadian districts, according to the UN.
