North Korea launches 3 new ballistic missiles towards the East Sea

After North Korea launched three ballistic missiles in the direction of the east, one of which fell less than 60 kilometres from the southern coast, the South Korean army reported receiving a rare warning from an air strike on a remote island in South Korea.
North Korea’s launch activities came just hours after Pyongyang demanded an end to extensive military drills between South Korea and the United States, claiming that it is no longer feasible to tolerate such a “military haste and provocation.”

According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, at least one missile fell on the sea border between the two Koreas 26 kilometres south of the contentious northern border line.
The eastern South Korean city of Sokchu is only 57 kilometres away from the missile’s landing site, as is Olong, which is 167 km away.
An Olung County official was quoted by Yonhap News Agency as saying that the staff members were relocated to a cellar as soon as the alarm was given.

Hundreds of warplanes from both sides conducted fictitious strikes around-the-clock as part of the largest combined military aviation exercise between the United States and South Korea on Monday, known as vigilance storm.
