Bicycling climate activists block private jets at Amsterdam airport

On the eve of the COP27 United Nations climate conference in Egypt on Sunday, hundreds of climate protesters staged a rally and prevented private jets from taking off from Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport.
During the action, some protesters rode bicycles around private planes while others squatted around them to block their departure.
A spokesperson from Greenpeace Netherlands stated the protests were to encourage fewer flights and the use of more trains, as well as a ban on short-haul flights and private jets.

According to Dutch Military police, they detained a handful of demonstrators for trespassing on airport property.
