French deputies claim to overcome the visa crisis with Morocco

A French parliamentary delegation urged Rabat on Sunday to “leave” the visa problem that has dogged French-Moroccan relations since more than a year ago.
“We need to find ways to quickly escape this circumstance,”
Senator Aison of the Parisian neighbourhood stated, “We must attempt to find acceptable ways for all,” during a visit by lawmakers arranged by the French-Moroccan Friendship Committee.

Paris made the decision to cut the number of visas issued to Algeria and Morocco in half in September 2021 in order to put pressure on the governments to allow their compatriots who had been expelled from France to return.
In what the intellectual community regarded as “a later,” the Moroccan government labelled the practise as “unjustified.”
The lowest relations between Rabat and Paris resulted from this militancy, which also upset people on social media and in the media with scathing articles.

Salah Burdi, chairman of the committee, said that disappointed Moroccan men and women had come to meet with him.
This visa programme, he continued, “has caused significant harm because it included a large portion of the French-speaking Moroccans who are the closest to our country.
The French government has reiterated its desire to carry out all of its commitments to depart French territory and recently filed its proposed law on resorting and immigration.

Senator Michel Dagbert urged Morocco to take “a step in the right path” and stated that “the question of visas must be divorced from the issue of commitment to leave French borders.”
The “visa war,” which is not the only issue preventing Rabat and Paris from working together, is receiving more calls from both the Moroccan and French sides.

The Western Sahara dispute is seen as a “national concern” for Morocco, whose ire sparked the most recent Paris-Algeria reconciliation, which was best exemplified by French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to the Algerian capital in August. France is thought to be quite forgiving on this matter.

French lawmakers assert that they have resolved the Moroccan visa situation.
