A section addressing the losses and damages caused by climate change has been added to the agenda for the first time, in line with the majority of societies in light of its impacts, according to Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs and President of the Climate Conference “COP 27.”

At a press conference, Shukri added, “This item is because of what we all see through the consequences related to climate change, which affected millions through the climate,” highlighting that it represents a success for the parties after a protracted process of consultations over the course of the past year and is proof of their maturity, wisdom, and willingness to acknowledge the need to deal with climate change.
