Kyiv: There is no plan to evacuate the residents of the capital … and the situation is under control

The three million or so residents of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, were not to be evacuated in an emergency, according to the city’s administration, who stressed that everything is “under control.”
The effects of Russian strikes on crucial infrastructure facilities are being minimised, according to Roman Takchuk, director of security for the Kyiv Municipal Council.

The New York Times earlier reported that officials in the capital city of Ukraine were reportedly stating they had started planning to evacuate the city’s inhabitants in the event that electricity is totally cut off due to the damage the energy network sustained from Russian missile attacks.
According to the New York Times, the director of security for Kyiv Municipality warned that the city might completely lose its energy grid if Russia kept attacking infrastructure.

He also stressed that officials in the capital were told that they would likely receive a notice at least 12 hours ago that the network is about to collapse, adding that if things reach this point, officials will start informing people and asking them to leave.
He pointed out that this will change rapidly if the city’s services are cut off, but that for the time being at least, the situation can be controlled as there are no signs that a significant number of residents are leaving Kyiv.

He added that there won’t be any water or sanitization without electricity, indicating that the government and the city administration are now taking all feasible precautions to safeguard our energy supply system.

The city has 1,000 thermal shelters, most of which are in educational buildings, that might shield citizens from Russian missiles as winter approaches, but the authorities have urged that their whereabouts not be correctly reported out of concern that they might end up being easy targets.
Notable is the current targeting of Ukrainian energy networks by Russia. The strikes, according to Ukrainian President Folodimir Zellinski, have left 4.5 million people without access to energy.

Kyiv: The situation is under control, and there are no plans to evacuate the city’s people.
