Taiwan: The recent visits of US officials strengthen the country’s resolve to defend itself

Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen said that recent visits by US officials have strengthened her country’s resolve to defend itself.
During her meeting with US Senator Marsha Blackburn at the Philippine presidential office, Tsai added, “Recently, many public figures from the American community have paid visits to Taiwan, and those kind acts and resolute displays of support have strengthened Taiwan’s resolve to defend itself.

She emphasised that it is crucial for nations that value freedom to support Taiwan as those nations work to protect its independence and freedom. She also noted that democratic nations should cooperate to create more secure and durable support networks and expressed her joy at the news of Taiwanese companies making investments in the US.

She mentioned the desire of her nation to collaborate with the US in order to improve ties in the high-tech industries and jointly address economic issues in the post-Coronavirus era.
Early in August, Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the US house of representatives, paid a visit to Taiwan. A week later, five more politicians paid Taipei trips.
